"I use laser cutting as part of my process of my handmade jewelry. In some cases, I laser cut the actual parts of the piece. In other cases, I use laser cut elements for modeling, in order to explore scale and composition of a piece, before committing to precious metals. I appreciate progression and innovation, and the many opportunities offered by using digital tools and technological fabrication methods. Rather than thinking of traditional craft as a contradiction to technology my work marries the two. Rather than divorcing handmade and digital into separate art practices, I synthesize them. I incorporate technology-based elements into my work, without giving away my passion for the handmade; handcraft is always a part of my process. This piece is a part of a series. I used laser cut cardboard elements for exploring the designs."
