"Technology is so often celebrated as offering more efficiency, time, information, precision, as if it is always better than human production. I merge technology with the handmade in both material and conceptual processes in my work to investigate how we use these tools to shape the world, and also how these tools shape us in return. What have we gained? What have we lost? Sometimes these references are recognizable, as in using binary code as a stitch pattern, other times it's subtly in the mechanics of how a piece is made. I incorporate elements in each piece that require human effort and interaction for myself in creating and also for the viewer in deciphering layers of meaning."
